Restaurants Uzès
From Michelin stars to market bistros — dining in one of the south's finest towns
Despite its modest size, Uzès punches well above its weight for dining. A Michelin-starred restaurant, several refined gastronomic tables, lively bistros on the Place aux Herbes, excellent pizza, wine bars, and cosy tea rooms — the town has something for every appetite and budget.
Tables book out fast, especially in summer and on Saturday market days. If you have a specific restaurant in mind, book ahead.

Le Barry
Numa Testud, formerly chef at Le Tracteur (recommended by Le Fooding), moved into a stone dining room on Boulevard Victor Hugo in late 2021. His market cooking changes daily with what arrives: sea bass on celeriac purée one lunchtime, braised pork cheeks the next. Precise, generous and excellent value. Book about ten days ahead; dinner is served on Friday evenings only.
13 Boulevard Victor Hugo, 30700 Uzès
Les Insolents
Taken over in June 2024, Les Insolents has turned a page: no more chefs in residence or steep bills, but generous tapas, well-chosen natural wines and a more relaxed mood. When aïoli is on the menu, order it. The terrace on Boulevard Gambetta is ideal for a summer dinner.
5 Boulevard Victor Hugo, 30700 Uzès

6 Boulevard des Alliés, 30700 Uzès
Le 80 Jours
Named after Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days, Philippe's restaurant is a culinary journey: curries, exotic tartares, dishes with Thai, Mediterranean and French influences. The jasmine courtyard is one of the loveliest settings in Uzès. Seven-hour confit lamb and fillet of pork with foie gras are the signature dishes; Philippe is a perfect host.
2 Place Albert 1er, 30700 Uzès
TEN
Kate Tucker (trained at London's River Café) and chef Damien Rolain serve international fusion cooking in a 15th-century mansion. The menu follows the market — oyster tempura with wasabi, braised lamb shoulder with black olives, Black Angus burger with chimichurri. The cocktails are as good as the food. Recommended by Rick Stein in Secret France.
10 Place Dampmartin, 30700 Uzès
Cool Kitchen
Chef Julien Lavandet (formerly of La Table de Julien) opened in Uzès in late 2024, with his wife Jennifer front of house and sommelier Jérôme Lambert. Everything is homemade and the short menu changes with the seasons (2–3 starters, 2 mains, 3 desserts). The €38 lunch menu is remarkable value for this level of cooking.
5 Boulevard Charles Gide, 30700 Uzès
L'Esprit du Samaritain
A family restaurant with the stone walls typical of Uzès, and a safe bet for an affordable lunch. The evening menu goes up a notch with yuzu prawns, tuna tataki or Camargue bull steak. The chef comes out to greet guests.
24 Boulevard Charles Gide, 30700 Uzès
Era Ora – Maison Toscane
Uzès is nicknamed 'little Tuscany', and Era Ora lives up to it. Tuscan-born chef Aldo Elia imports cheeses and olive oil straight from Italy and pairs them with local ingredients. Comfortable armchairs, a library corner and an inner courtyard for fine days — far from the cliché Italian restaurant. The special menu during truffle season (January) is worth the trip.
66 Boulevard Gambetta, 30700 Uzès
Crêperie La Bolée
A real Breton crêperie in the Gard. Crisp buckwheat galettes (naturally gluten-free), generous fillings and a good choice of farmhouse ciders. The small room fills up fast — book or come early. In summer, the terrace on Place Albert 1er suits a quick lunch between visits.
12 bis Place Albert 1er, 30700 Uzès
Le Provençal
Where the regulars go. Alex, the outspoken owner, serves a dish of the day at €9. Large terrace under the plane trees facing Saint-Étienne church, hearty salads, fast service. Simple and fresh, at roadside-café prices in a Provençal setting — come to eat like a local, not for fine dining.
2 Boulevard Victor Hugo, 30700 Uzès
Ma Cantine
Wine bar and neighbourhood bistro run by Fabienne and Thierry since 2012, recommended by Le Routard and Petit Futé. The speciality is hand-cut Charolais beef tartare, prepared in front of you. The menu changes daily with the market — Nîmes brandade, bull gardiane, ricotta-spinach ravioli. Relaxed atmosphere, good wines by the glass.
22 Boulevard Gambetta, 30700 Uzès
Le Comptoir Agricole
The oldest café in Uzès, on Place Albert 1er with a large shaded terrace. Classic Provençal cooking, well executed: aïoli, Nîmes gratin, duck confit, salt-cod brandade. The €15.90 menu of the day is honest. Right for a morning coffee, a quick lunch or an evening apéritif. Dogs welcome — bowls and treats provided.
22 Place Albert 1er, 30700 Uzès
La Cave du Duché
Wine bar, wine shop and delicatessen opposite the town hall, opened in 2023 by Florent Doual, an oenologist for 20 years. All wines are sold at shop prices, plus €6 corkage to drink them on site. Organic and biodynamic selection with good local finds. Charcuterie boards (€21 for 2–3) and oysters (6 for €10) go with the tasting.
6 Place Albert 1er, 30700 Uzès
Au Suisse d'Alger
Named 'most beautiful terrace in France' by Le Nouvel Obs in 2021. At the corner of the Place aux Herbes, a café-bar terrace where time stands still: organic wines from small growers, homemade tapas, craft lemonade. You come for the setting — a book and a glass of rosé here already feels like a holiday. The wines are decent rather than exceptional.
Place Dampmartin, 30700 Uzès
Le Pèbre d'Aï
Jessica and Samuel, both from fine-dining kitchens, opened this bistronomic table in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, 5 minutes from Uzès. High-level cooking at prices that are anything but: lunch from €18.50, dinner €36. Short blackboard menu (2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts) that follows the market, and a good choice of natural wines. Try their house 'spritz uzétien'.
2 Ruelle de la Barbacane, Place de l'Horloge, 30700 Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie
Ousta-Maï
'Ousta-Maï' means 'my house' in Provençal, and that is exactly it: Sandrine and Jean-Paul Lecroq welcome you at home, under the pines, for a single six-course menu that changes every two months. 17 covers at most. Sandrine is also a skilled oenologist and her wine pairings are spot on. €65 for six courses of fine-dining level.
11 Rue des Pins, 30700 Saint-Maximin
La Bergerie
Chef Navin Bhunjun, born in Mauritius and trained at the Negresco in Nice, cooks in a former sheepfold in the garrigue, next to his own vegetable garden. The result is a French-Mauritian fusion unique in the area: tandoori prawns, John Dory Mauritian-style, tuna tartare with exotic flavours. Large terrace overlooking the countryside; the €14 lunch set menu is a gift.
12 Avenue de la Mairie, 30190 Garrigues-Sainte-Eulalie
Les Carrières
Don't be put off by the address in a small business park. Chef Gauthier Sico (24, trained with MOF Serge Chenet) took over the family business and makes everything in-house, burger buns included; the Isara burger has become a cult item. The terrace is quirky and charming, hidden behind the plain façade. €34 for three courses, burgers €15–18.
13 ZA de Queyrol, Route d'Aigaliers, 30700 Serviers-et-Labaume
Pékélette
In the small village of Aigaliers, Chloé runs a table with character, where the chef's personality shows on every plate. Short blackboard menu (four choices per course) that changes with the seasons and deliveries, regional produce, generous plates and a warm welcome. The village itself, set in the garrigue, is worth the detour.
Le Village, Route Stéphane Hessel, 30700 Aigaliers
Villa Curti
Chef Cédric cooks an original mix of Mediterranean, Moroccan and Indian touches, made on site from fresh, mostly organic produce. The setting is unique: a starlit terrace and a vaulted dining room in a former church. Organic and natural wines from small local growers.
3 Rue de la Ferté Milon, 30700 Uzès
CéBo
In the heart of old Uzès, near the ducal palace, Coco and Thierry Hainaut run their third restaurant (the previous one was on the Île de Ré). In the kitchen, Thierry revisits French family classics — vol-au-vent, sea-bass quenelles, rum baba — and his signature lobster cappuccino, which follows him from restaurant to restaurant. Lovely terrace in summer, a cosy room by the fireplace in winter; Coco looks after the dining room and the French wines.
3 Rue Plan de l'Oume, 30700 Uzès
Loulou
Since 1 September 2026, Les Folies Ernest has become Loulou: same address in the former stables of the Duchy, same partners, Damien and Florian, now a restaurant and cocktail bar focused on the food. Listed vaulted room, Murano crystal chandeliers, deep banquettes and a shaded, secluded patio. Lunch Tuesday to Saturday on a weekly menu (two starters, two mains, two desserts); a fuller menu and tapas at the bar Wednesday to Saturday evenings. Saturday lunchtime 'Apéro du Marché' with oysters and sharing plates, and a 'Dîner Festif' with a DJ set every other Friday. Closed Sunday and Monday.
7 Boulevard Charles Gide, 30700 Uzès
La Belle Vie
Opened in June 2025, La Belle Vie earned its first Michelin star in 2026 — the only new star in the Gard that year. Chef Denis Martin (formerly of The Marcel, the starred restaurant in Sète) cooks refined, fish-focused Mediterranean food with real vegetarian and gluten-free options. It is the restaurant of the hotel of the same name, in a quiet wine village 18 minutes from Uzès towards the Pont du Gard. The €49 weekday lunch menu makes the star surprisingly accessible.
4 Avenue Paul Blisson, 30210 Saint-Hilaire-d'Ozilhan
Le Vieux Castillon
In the medieval lanes of Castillon-du-Gard, the 4-star hotel Le Vieux Castillon (Michelin Key) houses the most guide-listed table around Uzès: 13.5/20 and 2 toques from Gault&Millau, Michelin selection. Chef Sébastien Brette, who worked with Troisgros and Ducasse, cooks seasonal Provençal food in two registers: Azur, a simple poolside lunch, and La Table du Castillon for fine dining in the evening. Views over the vines and the hilltop village, 15 minutes from Uzès and 5 from the Pont du Gard.
10 Rue Turion Sabatier, 30210 Castillon-du-Gard
L'Amphitryon
A discreet institution of Castillon-du-Gard: chef Stéphane Goudet has run the kitchen for more than twenty years and bought the house in late 2025. Selected in the 2026 Michelin Guide, it serves produce-led, seasonal cooking — truffle in winter, lobster in summer, hare in autumn — under the stone vaults of a characterful dining room, 15 minutes from Uzès.
24 Place du 8 Mai 1945, 30210 Castillon-du-Gard
Le Pt'it Mercier
On the Bagnols road just outside Saint-Siffret, 8 minutes from Uzès, the house of chef Hugo Mercier — formerly of La Table d'Uzès and La Table du Castellet — holds a 2026 Michelin Guide selection, a Gault&Millau listing and 4.9/5 on Google. Everything is homemade, down to the ice creams and sauces; the €29 menu of the day changes weekly, the €37–49 menus monthly, with a real vegetarian option. Small room, closed Tuesday and Wednesday: book ahead.
Route de Bagnols, 30700 Saint-Siffret

81 Rue d'Uzès, 30700 Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie
La Cuisine du Boucher
As the name says, meat is the star, chosen and prepared the way a craft butcher would — Aubrac cuts, homemade sausages and terrines. Around €30–40 à la carte. 8 minutes from Uzès, open Tuesday to Sunday.

This season's chef is Philippe Houy, Maître Cuisinier de France. Contemporary French cooking in a park of century-old plane trees: the closest 'lunch at the château' to Uzès.

On the village square of Saint-Hilaire-d'Ozilhan, Emmanuelle Lachaud (formerly at Les Insolents in Uzès and La Courtille in Tavel) runs a village bistro with patterned tiles, whitewashed beams and flowers on the tables. Ultra-local market cooking: meat from the village breeder Soulier, trout from Mont Lozère, sheep's tomme from Belvézet. Listed by Le Fooding, rated 4.9/5.
